The Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya scheme was introduced by the Government of India in August 2004, then integrated in the Sarva Shiksha Abhiyan program, to provide educational facilities for girls belonging to Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, Other Backward Classes, minority communities and families below the poverty line in Educationally Backward Blocks.
KGBV Schools were established in each Block by the INDIAN GOVERNMENT for girls.
Our school was Inaugurated by Honourable Education Minister Shri Bandhu Tirkey on 6 October 2006 in Lapung. From that day the school is operated from the same building.

The main moto of these schools is to raise the Literacy Rate of Girls in the state.
These schools are for girls who had to left their education due to poverty or being too far from school. The Government has provided every facility for these girls for their proper and complete education. Schools also Aims so the girls can raise themselves from the rural environment and gain better intellectual, Physical and Moral education.
Professional education is also provided aside from regular education so the girls can use those skills in life after the completion of school education.
The ultimate goal is to achieve 100% LITERACY RATE among girls from all villages.
